Hi , I am heading to Tokyo in the new year in January and would like to ask if you have any tipps for buying records (vinyl records) in Shibuya and Asakusa for me as a foreigner (Austria) . What shops do you or can you recommend? What else could be helpful to know. I am eager to know your insights. -

There's a few old threads:

Tokyo is record hunting heaven and it's basically a matter of how much time you can allocate for record digging.
In Tokyo you could probably do that for one month straight without hitting the same record store twice.
What genres are you after?
I'll be in town record shopping from mid-January onwards, I could show you a place or two.
Shibuya is better than Asakusa btw. -

I am searching for Funk, Soul and a little bit of Metal. I am also looking for Prince and Francoise Hardy LPs .
Then I'd say your best bet are the Disk Union shops in Shibuya and Shinjuku. They have specialty shops for metal/punk and black music. https://diskunion.net/templates/v2/img/e_shop/e_shop_routemap_l.pdf
Look up Recofan shops too. Main store is in Shibuya and they have more ts in Akihabara and Musashi Koganei (a bit further down the Chuo line).
There's an long discussion about Tokyo vinyl over at the Steve Hoffman forums:

There are probably some bargains to be had in branches of Hard Off/Off House as well. -
