I too would love a Dark Mode option. Since Discogs makes money from every item sold in the Marketplace, spending a little time to add this option in the code shouldn't take that long to do? I view Discogs at night a lot so this would be incredibly beneficial. I don't know how to code but this looks super easy https://www.linickx.com/adding-dark-mode-to-your-website-is-super-easy -

They are first working on refactoring the main website's HTML and CSS. Implementing or just switching-on a dark mode will probably come when that's done. It seems especially likely now that websites can detect when browsers are set to use dark mode. I am just guessing, though.
Quoting from the stickied Test the new release page thread in this forum, emphasis mine:

Hello! A small group of developers at Discogs have been working on some exciting, but mostly “behind the scenes” improvements to the release page. Here are the details:
We’ve completely rewritten the backend and frontend code for the release page. The new release page loads considerably faster than the old release page and we are now set up to make further performance improvements.
This work is paving the way for future design and experience improvements, but the current design should be nearly identical to the current release page. -

That’s great news. Thanks for the update. -

Truly missing a native dark mode.
The website could automatically switch to dark mode by detecting the system's color mode. Details in:
prefers-color-scheme
Also, a manual override switch dark/light would be welcome, as we can see on a growing number of websites. The Android app should also have a dark mode (preferably Amoled Black).
The list of dark mode ers grows everyday: YouTube, Facebook, WhastApp, Telegram, Reddit, GitLab even GitHub recently added it. So, it's fair to ask: why stay out? -

What's the dark mode hype about ?
Now Discogs has a white screen with black text.
In dark mode you get a black screen with white text it
reduces eye strain. See the below parts at your screen here.
Chrome has that function built in so you can choose
but uses a hack more cookies (read: tracking you,
collecting more data about you, generating more web traffic
than when you use Firefox (more 'privacy' by lesser third
parties looking at your whereabouts on the web). -
Show this post
Dark mode is good for your eye health if you are here for a long session.
If you use Chrome browser (Brave I use for better privacy it include too) use this ecellent extension https://discogs-enhancer.com/ it is in dark grey. -

They should contract this dev to enable these functions natively, would really help all s then.
In the meantime, can this extension be added or ported to other browsers (eg. Safari, Brave. et al.), which many s prefer to use? -

"Only a style"
I actually think that styles were superior to dark mode. Dark mode is decent, but, styles gave you more choice, more flexabilty. On major sites like Facebookand Google, there was literally a style for every taste / every eyesight requirement. (I find dark mode, while preferable to normal mode is a little too dark and tend to prefer semi-dark, but, very soft colours).
Not that they'll work with the new changes, but, there are about half a dozen styles for Discogs here (you can still see the screenshots). Sadly, none have been maintained and the stylers are MIA.

Oh, this is an interesting idea of having possibly two levels of dark mode. One for folks who like high contrast and one for a slightly lower/softer contrast. We'll take that into consideration, thanks! -

The Stylus add-on actually allows you to edit the colours as you wish. You can create as little or as much contrast as you like.
You can even make it a hot red theme or a brown-yellow, vintage green or amber monitor simulation, or whatever you feel comfortable with.
You can also switch it on/off in two mouseclicks. Or switch between alternative colours schemes.
It actually shows how easy it would be for Discogs to create a "colour menu" in the settings where anyone can customize the colours as they wish, with two or three presets. -

thanks, two other minor details if they are easy fixes;
- artist and label page numbers are in black text and basicly invisible, the release page number is grey and visible.
- unavailable items in the marketplace have white background, grey would fit better for not to shine so bright. -
