When sellers are starting to be more aggressive with the postage prices - that's fine - you can do what you want - and blame it on postage prices - but more and more people are just going to STOP buying. When I'm buying $15 worth of records and the shipping is $9 media mail and another 1.50 for taxes - making the add-ons about as much as the product. I ship media mail every day - and I know the prices. Keep it up - as they say - pigs get fat - hogs get slaughtered. -

How much did that $15 worth of records weigh? How many records were in the order? -

You should also be aware that the price of shipping itself isn't the only cost. There's also packaging material, time/wages spent on processing, etc., not to mention the fees on shipping and the PayPal fees. Charging only what the shipping service itself costs will lose the seller money. -

Postage is one of the costs that sellers pay. Shipping is what sellers charge buyers, and can include all the costs associated to provide that service. -

My costs for shipping a single CD went up over 30% last January. It is enough that low priced items can begin to break even or lose money, so the Delivery fees have to go up. Taxes are your own governments doing.
Same problem for every seller online - Postage goes up, so do delivery fees. Buyers just have to pay it if they want the item, from me or anyone.
How many yard sales you want to troll to find that one thing you see here... ? -

If your beef is that the cost of shipping vs. cost of records is narrowing, sounds like you just need to buy more expensive records.
Easy fix! -

Shipping costs are not exclusive to Discogs. -

I thought the same thing until I started selling off some of my collection. A single record may cost $5 to ship but there's also the mailer it's sent in (say $2.50) & 9% Discogs fee which is 9% on both the item & the cost of shipping. A $15 record with $5 shipping ends up with an additional $4.30 once the 9% & mailer is added on. $5 quickly turns into $9.30 & that doesn't include the time it takes to process & take the item to the PO. -

9%
And when you add that to the shipping cost you pay 9% on on the additional charge. Plus PayPal fees. I figure the transaction fee should be charged to shipping, as well as the percentage on shipping. Of course you'll pay 9% on that too. I can accept PayPal on my direct sales, and pay no transaction fee, and a smaller percentage. -

It looks like the OP got over his rage against the cost of shipping records.
