The Beat (2) – I Just Can't Stop It

Grundman has done a fantastic job with this remaster. It has the muscle memory of the original vinyl, retains the dynamics so that the listener can once again fully enjoy the crunchy guitars working with the excellent rythm section this band had.
It also hasn't got the irritating 4khz fizziness of earlier CD masters, and the stereo width is improved. Sounds great. I'm happy Rhino had one more go and got Grundman for the job.

Update to my post below. Rhino has sent me four different copies of this 2-LP set, and all of them have the first second of audio missing from Side 1 & 2. Rhino Customer Service has finally told me, after much back and forth, that they have no plans to repress this set with the corrected audio. The flaw is also on the single LP magenta copy released a bit after this RSD release. Considering this was originally recorded digitally, someone has made a grave mistake in quality control. I seriously doubt the great Bernie Grundman would have allowed a master lacquer out his door with these flaws. Buyer beware.

I would consider this one of the better pressings I have heard, at least to my ears.

Just dusted this off this Great LP...The sound on this is damn good IMO, Great separation/layering/depth/stage, the sound is clear (nice thick prominent Bass, nice snap on the snare/drums, nice mids (sax, vocals sound great), and nice treble (some sparkle but not pushed), and still retains power/punch. Great LP and sounds damn good on my modest set-up...

This release is not nearly as bright in the upper-mids as the original copy I lost recently - it sounds liked a tamed-down version of the original. Clean, quiet, without much excitement in the presence, but a beautiful package -

So GZMedia can press a good sounding record. With a little help from Bernie. The second disc is killer also. My recent GZ/Memphis RSD were awful-Joe Strummer would be ashamed!

On this release, on "Big Shot, the line "He'll tell you when to beg and when to sit" is followed in the next line by an additional vocal "sit!", which is not present on the original vinyl issue

It literally explodes out of the speakers. So much detail that you hear things you might not want to, e.g., how different tape sources were mixed to form the original master. This is more evidence that Bernie Grundman beats Kevin Gray as a mastering engineer every time. Gray has sucked the life out of a number of rock and pop classics and is only consistently good with the Blue Note Tone Poets jazz series. But Grundman always captures and heightens the original sound of the OG record. With this particular one-LP reissue, even the color vinyl is exactly the right shade of magenta to match the jacket. First-class.

My copy appears to have the first chunk of the opening Side A drum fill cut off. Anyone else?
