American-born electronic music pioneer with a background in physics and electronic engineering. Started out as a classical bass player working with symphony orchestras before establishing White Noise in London in 1968 with BBC Radiophonic Workshop Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson. Founder of Kaleidophon Studios in London, and inventor of the Kaleidophon instrument, an electronic double-bass-like instrument that he uses on some of his recordings.
