Richard Lerman

Richard Lerman (5 Dec 1944, San Francisco, USA) is an American composer who studied at Brandeis University with Alvin Lucier among others. He has taught at the Boston Museum School (1973–95) and Arizona State University West (from 1994).
His compositions develop unexpected textures from natural phenomena and materials, collected with his own specially constructed microphones and transducers. Lerman's honours include fellowships from the NEA and the Guggenheim Foundation.
