Swedish jazz trombonist, composer and orchestra leader, born June 9, 1938, died May 18, 1990.

He led one of the most important jazz groups in Sweden in the 60s. Between 1967 and 1972 he was active at the Music Academy in Graz, Austria, among other things as a teacher of Improvisation. Thelin also toured Europe with the pianist Joachim Kühn. After returning to Sweden, he worked with his own group.

He is the father of John Eje Thelin.
