Billy Gashade

Billy Gashade, sometimes written as Billy LaShade, supposedly was a 19th century minstrel singer and is attributed for having written The Ballad Of Jesse James, shortly after the outlaw's death in April 1882. However, there are no historical records for anyone by either of those names.
