NYKDLN is the primary creative outlet of Scott Michael, whose related efforts include curating and operating Ailanthus Recordings beginning in 2011; Curating and writing for the blog Roberto Clemente Rookie Card from 2010-2012; College and professional radio DJ work from 2006-2012; and began his career as a show promoter in and around Johnstown, Pennsylvania, beginning in 2004 until 2013.

Scott Michael primarily works in dynamic linear sound collage, program music and live installation. Using field recordings, found/incidental sound, physical programming/filtering and sampling as source material and utilizing the styles and techniques of vaporwave, broken transmission, mallsoft, drone, ambient, lowercase and noise.
