American talent booking agent, and Broadway and television producer.
Rowland was a talent agent with ICM in the New York concert division from 1985 to 1990, where he signed artists such as Frank Zappa, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Lou Reed and Metallica, and booked tours for ICM clients Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, AC/DC, KISS, Neil Young, Guns and Roses and others.
He has also worked for American Talent International, Inc.
Rowland was recruited by PolyGram Records to start a new division called PolyGram Diversified Entertainment. During this period, Rowland produced music television programs and Broadway shows.
The television shows included "Diana Ross Live: The Lady Sings…Jazz and Blues", "Woodstock ’94" and MTV, the 25th anniversary concert event, "Elvis Aaron Presley: The Tribute", "Guns and Roses: Live from Paris" and "Verve Records @ 50: The Jazz Masters at Carnegie Hall", and "Victor/Victoria" live from the Broadway stage.
The Broadway shows included "Jelly’s Last Jam" starring Gregory Hines, "Damn Yankees" starring Jerry Lewis, and "Victor/Victoria" starring Dame Julie Andrews.
Rowland left PolyGram Diversified Entertainment to Metropolitan Entertainment Group, Inc., where he ran the Television and Theatre division, and continued to produce television specials and Broadway theatre for five more years until he left to start his own production company, Two Hands Entertainment, which produced "Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill" for HBO starring Audra McDonald.
