Czech musicologist, music journalist, translator, writer and jazz expert.
Born 18 March 1924 in Prague (former Czechoslovakia), died 16 December 2013 in Prague. Father of David Dorůžka.

His career in journalism started as an editor of an underground jazz paper during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. He was editor of Czechoslovak “Jazz” and “Melodie” magazines, a “Billboard” contributor, he served an official music industry bodies and held office in the Czech Jazz Association and the International Jazz Federation. He wrote several books on jazz, pop and the music industry, as well as translated English literature into Czech. Former organizer of International Jazz Festival Praha.
