Kaveret
Profile: |
Kaveret (Hebrew for Beehive) was an immensely popular Israeli rock band, known for mixing comedy into their songs and skits. The band was initially formed by five musicians who had performed together during their military service in Danny Sanderson. It became one of Israel's all time best selling albums and won Kaveret the title "Band of the Year" by both Galei Tzahal and Israel Broadcasting Authority. It also yielded two number one singles. In 1974 Kaveret represented Israel at Eurovision, performing the song Natati La Chayay (I Gave Her My Life), finishing seventh. The song appeared on the band's second album, Poogy In A Pita, released in August of that year. Kaveret also won "Band of the Year" honors for a second time. Their third album, Crowded in the Ear (1975) was less successful than the first two. A North American tour followed. In 1976 Kaveret disbanded. |
