Great pressing. Much much better then my half speed master. First track in stereo just blows you away. Great sound on this album.
-
Not so bad I think. This is indeed similar to the Exile Half speed , good bottom end ok dynamics some headroom, vocals a little laidbackiish the problem I think here is a lot of crappy copies ing the almost non-existent QC step at MPO, if you manage to grab a good one this is a fun listen

Sonically it’s lacking a bit . Treble is a little bright which means the brass and acoustic guitars sound really good but the bass is quite hidden .
My copy came nice and flat and well centred but had some odd marks which did not come out even after a VPI clean. It was a pre order from a Newport independent. Going by comments it sounds like a large number of these had quality control issues.
There are probably better sounding pressings out there but it’s not so easy finding originals that aren’t at deaths door ! The bonus disc is worth having . -
In a shoot out with my original US pressing, the original wins hands down with more sparkle, life, and soundstage. Dead Flowers sounds fantastic in the original while this just sounds a bit laid back and polite. THAT SAID, the outtakes on side 3 of this sound killer! They explode out of the speakers and sound superior to the sonics of the original album.

This is the reissue to get. Better than my original US, Japanese and Canadian pressings. Vinyl is quiet and flat, great mastering. The bonus tracks are great too.

Edited 5 years agoI think this reissue sounds fantastic. I was on the lookout for an original in good shape for a while before I bought this. I don't think I need to now unless it is a screaming deal. I only bought the deluxe because I got a good deal but anyone looking for a great copy of this album could go with just the standard version since it is pretty inexpensive. One note, my records arrived very dirty even though I bought a sealed copy. Once through the Spin Clean though and they sound very good. Great pressing.

I purchased mine new from Amazon UK this week for £14.99, and mine arrived super clean, and sounds amazing. Highly recommended release!

I bought this in HMV London the day it came out only to get home and find both discs covered in what literally looked like sticky fingerprints. They would not come off at all so I returned it to HMV and they gave me another which was exactly the same. They then checked another copy which was identical so they said they were returning all copies as faulty. It was unavailable in their store until last week when they had it on sale for £14.99! I think this is a fault across a large batch of the pressing and they're now selling off the faulty ones dirt cheap. Real shame as otherwise the packaging and everything looks great.
